17.04.2006: Valeri Babanov is preparing to start his Chomo Lonzo expedition in Kathmandu Valera & Karma   16th of April we`ve received some news from Valeri delivered from Kathmandu: On April 12 Valeri came to Kathmandu. Even though it was a first day after the strike, people were friendly and all shops and markets were opened. Today he is going to buy some food to take with him. In the morning on April 15 he will leave Kathmandu. On April 22 Valeri considers to be in the Base Camp of Chomo Lonzo. On his way to Kathmandu, in Delhi airport, Valeri was surprised to see a huge picture of Garhwal Meru Central Peak where he made his solo climb in 2001. Expedition is going to begin and information will be received from the Base Camp. Expedition`s sponsors are BASK, SCARPA, GRIVEL, BEAL, JULBO.

12.04.2006: Valery Babanov`s new project: Chomo Lonzo summit (7790 m) The goal of Valery Babanov`s expedition is the West face of Chomo Lonzo climbing attempt. Sponsors of expedition: BASK, SCARPA, GRIVEL, BEAL, JULBO. Expedition`s hronology and description: Mountain range of Chomo Lonzo include three summits: North (7199m), Central (7540m) and Main (7790m). The massif Chomo-Lonzo drop a big faces, 2000-2500 meters on West and North-East side. The Chomo-Lonzo Main (7790m) was climb before twice: In October of 1954 year by French expedition from south and in 1993 year, the Japanest expedition from north-west side. The North and Central summits were climb in last 2005 year by National French expedition. The West face of Chomo-Lonzo Main is virgin still. Expedition`s hronology 10 april – Departure from Calgary to Kathmandu. 15 april – Departure from Kathmandu to Tibet. 21-22 april – Arrival to Base Camp Chomo-Lonzo (4900ì). West face climbing attempt will planing in the middle of May. In Chomo-Lonzo`s Base Camp will be just Valeri Babanov and cook.
